A. Connecting the Diamond Wire Saw The diamond wire saw should be connected to be a closed ring before application. The method and procedure are as below: 1. Peel off the plastic layer on both ends of the wire and let the steel cable exposed. The exposed length at one end should be L/2. (L =length of the connector) 2. Grasp firmly the both ends of the wire and pre-twisted the wire. (1.5¡ª2 rounds per meter) 3. Insert both ends of the wire into the steel connector after pre-twisting. Make sure that the connector should be pressed firmly on the plastic layer of the wire which had not been peeled off and there should not be any gap between them. 4. Press tightly the connector with special wire saw pressing pincer. The procedure of pressing is that: First, put the middle of the connector into the pincer and press it, then turn the connector 90¡ãand press again. Second, press the both ends of the connector as the first procedure. Third, press the middle of the connector again as the first procedure. 5. After pincer pressing, check the connector and take off the burrs with sand cloth.
B. Install the Diamond Wire and Make the adjustment 1. Install the wire on the Saw Machine according to the cutting direction and tight the wire. Pull the wire by hand and observe the wire. If the wire rotates evenly, please do the next procedure. If not, please check the 2 big flywheels to see if they are positioned rightly. 2. Switch on the equipment and observe the vibration of the wire. If the wire vibrate severely, please check the installing precision and rotating balance of the flywheels and guide wheels. If not, the fatigue breaks of the wire easily happen and the slab surfaces appearance will be affected by it. 3. the tightening strength of the wire: We recommend the tightening strength of the wire be 250¡ª350kg. If the tightening strength lower than above standard, the slab processing accuracy will be affected and the vibration of the wire will occur and frequent breaks will happen easily or the life of rubber on the flywheels and guide wheels will be shortened; If the tightening strength higher than the above standard, the steel cable will be stretched under the higher strength to out of shape severely. So the beads will be loose on the cable and be apt to rotate on it. The frequent breaks of the steel cable are due to it.
C. Fixing of the Blocks The standard of fixing of the blocks should be: The blocks and the slabs should not move during the cutting process. Even a little movement happens, the wire will be clipped to breaks or the beads and plastic layer be squeezed into a mass. The steel cable will be exposed and the life of the wire be ended in advance.
D. Application of the Wire 1. linear speed The linear speed of the wire should be adjusted according to the stone types and sizes of the blocks and other conditions. The common principle is that: the stone is more harder or the width of block is more bigger, the linear speed should be more slower. Over high linear speed will lead to blunt of the wire and over low speed will lead to elliptical or conical shape of the beads. We recommend the below linear speed:
Stone Type |
Linear Speed (m/s) |
Granite |
24--26 |
Marble |
30--32 |
2. cooling Because of uneven shape of the blocks, the stress concentration easily occurs which will leads to breaks of the wire in the beginning of cutting. The slab surfaces accuracy will be affected thereby. So when cutting begins the cutting depth will be lowered 20%--30% till the wire completely into the block. Then the cutting depth could be adjusted common standard. Sufficient cooling system will be required during cutting. The beads and plastic layer will be burned and even the whole wire will become useless without appropriate cooling system. Usually tap water is suitable for cooling. The cooling water quantity should be as below standard: The diameter of water column should be 1.5¡ª2 thicker than the diameter of the wire at the cutting exit of the wire. The water quantity could be adjusted according to the cutting noise and the water muddy extent. Too much cooling water is not good for wire. That will affect the self-sharpening of the wire and lead to sliding of the wire. 3. cutting parameters Diamond Wire is a kind of flexible cutting tool. The cutting efficiency is determined to be lower than circular saw blades. So it is unadvisable to seek for high cutting efficiency only. Over high cutting efficiency will lead to breaks of wire and shorten the life of wire and lower the cutting accuracy of slabs seriously. So suitable cutting parameters should be adopted according to different types of blocks. So the cutting depth should adjusted according to the hardness of stone, working electrical current, and the width of block. Usually if the stone is harder, working electrical current is greater, and width of block is wider, the cutting depth should be adjusted lower. We recommend the below cutting depth for your reference:
Stone Type |
Cutting Depth (mm/min) |
Medium Hard Granite |
4--6 |
Medium Hard Marbl |
e 8--12 |
2 points should be noticed: 1. Over narrow width of block will severely affect the life of wire. 2. If the diamond wire cut the hard and soft stone alternately, the life and sharpness will be highly improved. 4. diamond wire for quarry a. If slight side wear occurs, the wire should be cut and twisted and connected again. The twisting should be added 0.5¡ª1 round per meter based on last twisting rounds. b. When cutting begins, a guide wheel should be added near the cutting right angle of the stone. In order to protect the wire, the right angle cutting should be avoided for the wire. 5. When cutting stopped, the tightening strength should be loosed.
